supporters to walk on water... (added 14/08/07)

....well actually, not on water but quite near water.

John Hart hopes to lead a group of fundraisers in another walk round local reservoir, Bewl Water on Saturday 1st September at 10am.

It’s a lovely setting - if you’d like a good day out and feel like helping us raise funds, why not join us?

This has been a most enjoyable fundraiser for the past few years and the scenery is great whether we’re blessed with good weather or not. And it’s only 13 miles round!

You don’t have to raise hundreds of pounds, just what you can. When was the last time you asked your family or friends to sponsor you in something?

You can download a sponsor form from the Orphaids website at www.orphaids.org/downloads or call the office on 01580 755255 and we’ll send you one.

thanksgiving meal in november (added 14/08/07)

It’s time to book your place at the Annual Orphaids Thanksgiving Dinner on Saturday 24th November.

Such was the popularity of last year’s venue that we’ve decided to book it again. It’s conveniently placed and easily accessible by car, train, etc.

Come and join us at the Christ Church Centre, Tunbridge Wells, Kent from 7:30pm. - please let us know as soon as possible if you can attend.

dinner at the guildhall, london (added 14/08/07)

Through our links with Malawi, Orphaids UK has been invited to attend the annual African Revival Charity Ball at The Guildhall, London, on Friday 21st September 2007.

Hosted by BBC News presenter Bill Turnbull, this event gives us the opportunity to spread the word about Orphaids.

Following a sumptuous meal and a brief presentation on the work of Orphaids, together with a couple of other charities, guests will be able to bid on some impressive auction prizes - Orphaids will receive all proceeds from the auction prizes it donates.

So far we have arranged a signed Retief Goosen golf shirt , a night out at Walthamstow Dog Track to include dinner and we’re working to put together an ‘All Expenses Paid’ trip for 2 to Ecuador and the Galapagos.

Would you like to attend the event? Would you like dinner at The Guildhall? Is Bill Turnbull your TV hero? Do you have a high-class auction prize you could offer us?

Considering the prestige of the venue, the ticket price of just £150 is very reasonable and will ensure a memorable night out. You’ll also be helping raise funds for Orphaids. We have just 10 tickets available and Orphaids representatives will be on-hand throughout the evening.

If you’d like tickets or to pay for someone else to attend, please contact the Orphaids office on 01580 755255 for more information.

Emergency Appeal - april 2007 (04/04/07)

Orphaids is well known in Ecuador for supporting vulnerable children in desperate situations. We often receive requests from the Ecuadorean authorities to help children who have been abused or neglected.

We currently know of 9 children in Guayaquil, Ecuador, who are in need of our help. However, in order for us to be able to accept these children we need to open up the remaining 2 houses. It will cost us £3000 to complete each house and make it ready to live in.

Please pray that the funds will be made available for this to happen - we'd really like to take these children into our protection.

If you feel you'd like to make a donation to help with this project please remember to Gift Aid it as this will turn every £10 into £12.80 when we reclaim the tax from the Inland Revenue.

Orphaids is growing - please support us in prayer and by giving what you can.

Andrew Barr visits the UK - 22 April 2006 (22/04/06)

The Director of KINDLE Orphan Outreach visited the UK in April to run the London Marathon on 23rd.  Andrew Barr flew from Malawi to take part in the event to raise funds for KINDLE, which works with orphans in the Salima district of the country.

Andrew met with Orphaids Trustees at their annual Away Day on Saturday 22nd and gave a presentation detailing how the recent financial contribution from Orphaids UK has been used in Malawi.

Orphaids had donated £10,000 to the project in Salima, helping to purchase maize to feed 238 orphans during the famine experienced earlier this year.  In fact, due to the looting of 2 other food stores in the area, the KINDLE food store became the only food store servicing the district.  Orphaids and KINDLE helped far more people than was originally intended.

Orphaids UK is registered charity number 1081104
